5 Good Books for Gifted Kids

Finding a good book for gifted kids can be hard. If you’re a 10-year-old who can read at a high school level, you wouldn’t be interested in vampire diaries. Even though you could read it, you probably wouldn’t be interested in it. Here’s a list of good books for kids whose reading is above their level according to age.

A Wrinkle in Time and other books in the A Wrinkle in time book series by Madeleine L’Engle

A Wrinkle in Time is a middle school level book but is still an interesting read for kids who are younger but gifted. It’s about Meg, her extraordinary brother Charles Wallace and her friend Calvin, who go on an adventure to different planets using a tesseract. Their goal is to find Meg’s lost father who disappeared a year ago and save him from IT, a being that wants to make everyone the same. At the start, Meg is bullied, hates herself, and wants to be like everyone else, but in the end, Meg realises she is perfect the way she is and it would be boring if everyone was the same. All the other books in the A Wrinkle in Time series, known as the Time Quintet, are amazing. All the books have the message of love, self-love, and happiness. I love the Time Quintet and I highly recommend all the books in it.

Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry by Neil deGrasse Tyson

Astrophysics for Young People in a Hurry is an educational book for kids 8-12 years old. It may seem that there’s an unlikely chance that someone 1-7 would be gifted and be old enough to read. If it’s a middle school book the ages that a kid could be gifted would be 1-10 (You couldn’t read at 1 but it’s still an age). But who says there isn’t a gifted 6-year-old somewhere. Anyways, back to the book. This book is about astrophysics for kids. It’s very interesting and is a great read.

The Mysterious Benedict Society and The Mysterious Benedict Society Book Series by Trenton Lee Stewart

The Mysterious Benedict Society is a book for kids 11-13 years old. It’s about 4 extremely smart kids who go through a series of tests and are the winners. They get to join The Mysterious Benedict Society. A society of gifted children. The villain in this story is mind-controlling people using kids and TVs. The 4 kids are sent to LIVE (Learning Institute for the Very Enlightened), which is where the villain works. They have to stop the villain and prevent him from doing more mind-controlling. This book and others in the series are very captivating.

Percy Jackson and the Percy Jackson Book Series by Rick Riordan

Percy Jackson is a book for kids 9-13. It’s about a boy named Percy Jackson who goes to a special camp and discovers he’s the son of Poseidon. Zeus has recently had his lightning bolt stolen and suspects Poseidon of enlisting Percy to steal the lightning bolt. Percy has to try and find the person who stole the lightning bolt before the summer solstice, which is in 10 days. This book and others in the series are extremely interesting.

The Magic Treehouse Book Series by Mary Pope Osborn

The Magic Treehouse Book Series is about a sister and a brother who find a magic tree house filled with books. The treehouse can travel to the books that are inside it. They find out that it’s owned by a magical woman named Morgan. Every couple of books, a new quest starts. I love this series.

I hope this list has helped you decide what to read next. Check out our other articles on Daily Kid.
